The authentically preserved site of a former labour camp, a powerful reminder of the political repression of the 20th century.

An extensive mining museum in Březové Hory whose tour routes take you into the history of mining work, in places even underground.
The open-air mining museum in Březové Hory is only about 2.5 km from Orlov as the crow flies, which makes it one of the closest destinations. It suits families with children as well as anyone interested in technology, and some of the tours go underground.
The museum is made up of three visitor areas: the Ševčín Mine, the Anna Mine and the Vojtěch Mine. You will see headframes, steam winding engines from 1889 and 1914, a miner's cottage and a mineral collection. Underground in the Drkolnov Mine there is a water wheel 12.4 metres high. You can walk through the historic Anna drainage adit, 330 metres long, and ride a mine train through the Prokop adit.
For centuries Březové Hory was a centre of silver mining. In 1875 the Vojtěch shaft reached a depth of 1,000 metres, which the museum presents as a world first. The museum's roots go back to 1886, when the Příbram regional museum was founded.
Bring warmer clothes and sturdy shoes for the underground sections. Some routes are physically demanding or narrow and are not suitable for people with limited mobility or claustrophobia. For the youngest children the Anna adit and the train rides are the best choice. The train only runs in good weather, and outside the main season all visits are guided. Current opening hours, tour times and admission prices are listed on the museum's website.
