38.6 km · 6 h
A pair of ponds surrounded by extensive forest and one of the most photogenic scenes in the Brdy hills. Good for a longer walk or bike ride.

The highest summit of the Brdy hills (865 m) with the unusual landscape of former military impact areas. A trip for fitter hikers.
Tok (865 m) is the highest summit of the Brdy hills and of the whole Central Bohemian Region. It lies about 6 km from Orlov, above the village of Obecnice. The top is a broad plateau where sparse spruce forest alternates with heather, bilberry and cowberry. The trip suits fitter hikers.
The eastern slopes are almost treeless. They were once the impact area of an artillery range, which left behind an open landscape with long views. On a clear day you can see Klínovec, Ještěd, Sněžka and the Šumava mountains. Carnivorous sundew grows on the plateau, and ravens and eagle owls live here.
The impact area was set up in 1931, and for decades Tok lay inside the Brdy military district, closed to the public. The military district was dissolved at the end of 2015, and since 2016 the area has been part of the Brdy Protected Landscape Area. Half a kilometre south of the summit stood the Carvánka forester's lodge, which had to make way for the firing range. Only a small wooden hunting cabin stands on the site today.
A red-marked trail from Obecnice crosses the summit, and a green-marked trail continues from there to Příbram. You can also walk to Tok from Orlov: the loop via Pilský rybník pond and Carvánka is about 19.5 km long. Part of the former impact area remains closed, so stay on marked paths and respect the warning signs. The summit is almost always windy and often foggy, so dress accordingly.
