Pilská Reservoir
11.5 km · 3 h 25 min
A historic reservoir in the Brdy forests and one of the most beautiful and accessible places nearby.

A loop from Orlov to one of the most visited summits in the Brdy hills and the Kazatelna rock viewpoint.
You can set off for Třemošná (779 m) straight from Orlov. The marked loop starts at the car park by the bus turning point, about 600 metres from the resort. It is 3.6 km long and takes about an hour on foot, so it is suitable for children too.
From the car park the path climbs gently through the forest to the Pod Třemošnou junction. A short but steep and rocky section then leads up to the ridge, and a forest path continues to the summit. Just below it, on the eastern slope, is the Kazatelna rock viewpoint. You return to Orlov along a level path past the Svatá Hora viewpoint and, from the Pod Malou Třemošnou junction, on a wide gravel track.
From Kazatelna you can see Orlov, the town of Příbram with Březové Hory and part of the Vltava region. On a clear day the view reaches as far as Temelín and the Kleť and Boubín peaks in the Šumava mountains. The steep slopes are covered by original forest up to 200 years old, with spruce, beech, fir and maple, which is now rare in the Brdy hills.
The path from Příbram to Třemošná is one of the oldest marked trails in the Brdy hills, marked by the Příbram hiking club soon after 1890. A wooden triangulation tower once stood on the summit and the more adventurous hikers used it as a lookout tower.
In winter Třemošná is popular with cross-country skiers, and New Year walks traditionally head here on 1 January. In winter the descent from the summit to Kazatelna can be icy, so take care.
